ESAL Adoption Information

The ESAL has many wonderful dogs and cats ready for adoption. Many of these animals are previous house pets that are looking for a second chance to find a forever home and to make a friend for life!

Adult mix breed dogs: $275.00 and UP

Puppies: $350.00

Purebreds $400.00

Fee includes wellness exam by the Pet and Equine Vet Hospital, Heartworm test, Rabies vaccination, Distemper, Hepetitis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus vaccination, spay or neuter, and a microchip. (Note: fee does not include dog license). Though all of our dogs are up to date on shots before leaving the shelter, please remember that some dogs/puppies will require vaccine boosters to ensure they are fully vaccinated.

Cats: Purebreds $125

Domestic cats $75

includes Vet exam, Rabies vaccination, FVRCP, FELV/FIV test, and spay or neuter.

The ESAL accepts only VISA, Mastercard, Discover and cash for adoption fee payments.

 

If you are coming to the ESAL to adopt an animal please print and fill out an adoption application to help speed up the adoption process (click here for application).

Applicants must be 18 years or older and provide a current driver's license or other valid form of identification. The Eastern Shore Animal League takes the following items into consideration when adopting:

• The reason for adopting an animal
• Employment status
• Housing status(If rent or lease please bring a copy of your lease or a letter from your landlord)
• Allergy considerations
• Involvement of family members
• Previous pet history
• Animal care and housing & containment
• Existing pets
• Reference check including a veterinarian and your local animal control.
• Possible home visit

Adoption of an animal from the ESAL entails certain responsibilities including but not limited to, mandatory spay/neuter, proper vet care, and proper housing and feeding.
