Hello, In September I adopted 2 Chihuahua’s, Rudy and Bella (formerly known at Princess) from your shelter. I wanted to let you know that they are doing great and have adjusted well to their new home. Both are very playful and full of energy. They love to play with toys and run around outside. Bella is becoming less scared and timid and will now slowly approach people. They are wonderful little dogs and I feel very lucky to have been able to adopt them. Thank you for helping homeless pets! I have attached a picture. Thank you again! Robin Angelucci |

I just wanted to update you on Noodle, the wonder springer we adopted way back in 2001. Noodle is pushing 13 years old now, but doesn't seem to know it and he wants you to know that, even though we have moved to Williamsburg, VA, we always have the Cecil County SPCA in our thoughts and prayers. This past December, Noodle earned two Master Preferred Agility titles to add to the Obedience Championship and Canine Therapy Dog titles he already has - he wants to thank-you for sending him home with us way back when...we can only thank-you twice over for saving this little man for us and keeping him safe and well until we came to Cecil County and met him. The attached is a photo of Noodle earning his 10th "Double Q" in agility... Sincerely: |

Hi I adopted a beautiful German Shorthair Pointer named Clara from you in Sept. 2004 . I wanted to give you an update. She was diagnosed with end stage of renal failure in early Oct. 2004 and given her last stage diagnosis, most dogs live 4-6 weeks. With the miracle of modern medicine and allot of love , I wanted to let you know we just had to say good-bye to her last weekend. (5-7-2005) She was one of the most patient souls I ever met. She was nearly always tolerant of the Sub-Q fluids and responded well to her meds. She gave hugs regularly & loved her back yard. I know your staff really cared for her and wanted to let them know she had a really good 6 months she would not have had otherwise. She was an amazing girl and I miss her terribly. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to love such a wonderful animal. Laura K. Donovan |

Hi...we adopted Mini on Saturday morning ( 1-21-06 ) and I just wanted to say THANKS! Even though she is very fragile looking....she's a ball of spunk and just sooooooo.... sweet! She came home and took right over. She's bossing the cats around and is spoiled already. We changed her name to Isabella (Bella for short) She appears to be housebroken...hasn't had not one accident. (Yeah!) She is so different from the 130 lb black lab I lost after 9 years. We are feeding her Iams, Wellness, and mixing in a little yogurt and cottage cheese at your suggestion. She's eating like a little piggy. We bought her a pink coat and a purple bed (to match the harness and leash we purchased from you), not to mention, lots of toys. I can't remember the young ladies name who helped us but PLEASE thank her for us. We were very skeptical about taking Bella because of her appearance but I'm so glad we did. She definitely fits right in and is already loved very much! Here's a couple pictures we have taken..... Thank you Kathy, Vanessa, and Dustin and Kellie |

5-5-06 Hello everyone. I wanted to give you a quick update on how Paris did her first night in her new home. It would appear she is not used to being walked to do her business as we have now walked her last night and this morning and there is no action on her part. But that certainly is something to work on and the only negative about her! She was perfect when applying the DMSO to her belly, we gave her the heartworm monthly pill and she ate it without any hesitation...well she spit it out but quickly picked it up and chewed. We introduced her to a pig's ear treat and she proudly walked around with it until she realized she could chew it. Ah youth, so much to learn! She is incredibly sweet, followed us around the house with quiet enthusiasm, and knew all about sleeping in a bed but being very calm and quiet about it. My husband would always walk our first lab, Bailey, to the elementary school in the morning to say hi to the custodian, teachers and any children that may already be on site. Paris ( we may be calling her Gilda as we are both professional, classical singers and both have performed "Rigoletto") was perfect and enthusiastic about meeting everyone including the kids. The custodian and one of the teachers got teary-eyed as they miss our Bailey but were so happy to see us with another beautiful blonde lab to keep the a.m. tradition going. Thank you for posting her picture on the web and making it possible for us to adopt her after the sudden loss on April 24 of our beloved 11.5 year old lab Bailey. We will take great care of Paris and keep you updated on her progress with us. Candace 5-12-06 Hello Everyone!!! The update on Paris.... Definitely Gilda now. She is an absolute JOY!!!! How lucky we were to have found each other and I feel sad for the people who lost her. We walk her to a kids' ballpark where the little league baseball teams play and it is so obvious she had been with children that played ball/fetch with her. She is unbelievably friendly to everyone and wants to be with people - a perfect companion dog. I can't imagine having to let her go even after 9 days and believe her prior owners must have not known how to find her. She is very smart, she should become a utility/agility dog. We try to keep her out of our living room with a nice oriental rug so we put her in the family room and have a baby gate up to discourage exiting the room. Well, she didn't really care for that so yesterday she decided to jump the 4' to get out of the room and go upstairs to a guest staying with us a few days who was able to sleep in. That little rascal cleared that "fence" as if she were a horse! If she was a horse I believe her career would be of an open jumper or event horse!!! I would have to say, "Look Out Fair Hills, here we come!" In the short time we have had her she has learned quite a bit about walking on a leash - we are attempting to get her to heel and stay heeled on the left side ESPECIALLY since I do take her up to the barn where I board my horse and it is vital she stay on the left side. She doesn't particularly care for the horses at this point as I think they are so big she is afraid of them. She has stopped growling at them but if they put their noses down to sniff her she tries to nip their faces....something else to work on. I am certain she will learn proper doggie etiquette very quickly. She now sits on command, heels on leash changing tempi, she is really consistent sitting with the silent hand signal and she is starting to get the circle around the body to heel when seated looking at you in the front. Very clever. Medical Update: her belly lump from over-exertion after being spayed is slowly going down. I have continued applying the DMSO and hopefully in another week it will be completely gone. Thank you so much for allowing us to adopt her. Again, she is not our wonderful Bailey we lost, but she is such a different spirit I believe Bailey is smiling in approval. I know Brian and I our. Hi, I am not sure who I need to send this email to so I was hoping someone could respond and guide me to the right person. My husband and I adopted Figueroa the Great Dane about 3 weeks ago. I know Fig's former owner loves and misses him very much and I wanted to some how let her know he doing very well. We saw Figueroa's Birthday picture in the Cecil Whig yesterday and I had to respond to her some how. I wanted to ease her mind and let her know he is doing great. He is a wonderful puppy and we love him very much. Fig is part of our family and fits in our family like a puzzle piece of where our last Great Dane (Chelsie) was. We had to put Chelsie to sleep in January and she was almost 11 years old. We miss her dearly. Everyone at the SPCA has told us it was meant to be and so has our family and friends. We also believe it was meant to be. Our family is whole again. We celebrated his birthday with him and I know he is not suppose to get table food, but I made him a special birthday treat. After all it was his birthday. A big homemade hamburger was his special treat. He loved it. Fig gets along well with our other dog Shannon. They are best buds now and have started a bond with each other. Fig looks up to Shannon (not literally ha-ha) as an elder and she has been very patient with him. Shannon is 11 years old and very playful for her age. They are good for each other. Fig brings out the puppy in Shannon and Shannon teaches him the mature side of things. (I attached a picture of them playing Tug of War and it is so funny to watch them) Please tell Figueroa's former owner she did wonderful job raising him. He is a very smart and well mannered for a puppy and we thank her for all that she has done for him. We thank her for giving us something back that we have so dearly missed. I have taken a couple of pictures and I was hoping someone could forward this email to Figueroa's former owner. Please feel free to edit what you need to for the confidentially rules. Thank you so much, Donna |

Yukon started obedience classes last week and has a new doggy friend, Shelby. She's a golden retriever and is just under a year old. There are about ten doggies in the class. "I've been working very hard on the heal command... I think I've just about got it.. but I really do not like to sit at all... that's just too much work" Yukon's family consists of 'daddy', 'mommy', 'grandma', and four kitties, Baby Cat, Kitty Kitty, Demi, and Onslow. Baby Cat and Kitty Kitty like Yukon most of the time, niether of them grew up with a dog. Demi and Onslow are still not too sure about Yukon. They were both found as kittens and grew up with Katie, our old English Setter who passed away in March. |

7-2007 Dear Cecil County SPCA, I am just writing to thank you so much for adopting Dylan to me. He is such an exceptional dog. He has been easy to train, affectionate, and generally wonderful. We have a great time, and I think he likes Philadelphia. He loves going to the dog park and playing with other dogs. Over Christmas, he had great fun visiting my parent's cottage, and was a perfect house guest. Everybody compliments him on his good looks and spunky personality. I absolutely adore him and can't really imagine living without him. He has lost all his extra pounds (he loves to run here) and looks great. I attached a couple of pictures, one from Christmas and one from our new apartment (I don't have a camera, so the selection is limited). Hope all's well in Maryland, Diana |

Daisey at the SPCA
Daisey at her new home
|
8-2007 John: Daisey and I made it home. She rode beautifully in the car. She slept the entire time. We drove straight home without stopping. It took us about 5 hours. Macy greeted her and there was not a snip nor snarl. She sniffed at Mylo the cat, so all is well there. She's got her sniffer working overtime--so much new stuff. I think that she is going to fit in beautifully, and she has already charmed my entire family. I note that she is holding her tail down. I'm suspecting it is in deference to Macy. I'll watch for it. I'll send some updated photos and progress reports. I know that she'll be very happy here. Warm regards, Leisa Dear Cecil County SPCA: Here are a few pictures of Daisey. She is settling in well. She is a slobber bunny to be sure. I've never seen a dog drink water using her entire head as a shovel! I've been exercising her in the yard on a retractable leash. Tell Jack that Daisey is being very mindful of her leash boundaries. I cannot believe how incredibly loving and playful she is. This behaviour is a testament to the care that she has received at your facility. Shy? I'm not sure how she was labeled shy. She is eager to make friends with everyone she comes in contact with. She's so happy that she's been mouthing overly much. It's not a problem that cannot be corrected, and she is conscious of being gentle. She just cannot help herself in her delight. She's been eagerly (if not unsuccessfully) hunting dragon flies and butterflies today. The bird feeder, outside my office window is intriguing to her. The windows are 6' x 2' so she gets a full view outside. She lay quietly inside by my chair, like my previous setter, Greta, did. As you can see from the pictures, she's very happy. I appreciate having the opportunity to adopt this beautiful dog. I'll send periodic updates. Feel free to use this email in any way to promote your work. I'm also sending a copy to Catherine Harold. Warm regards, Leisa

10-17-2007 We love William. He is such a good boy. It's been a week now that we have had him. He is so smart and such a quick learner. We have taken him for a couple of neighborhood walks and plan on taking him to obedience school. I think it would do him some good. He has had an opportunity to be around children and babies and done very well with them. He is very curious but stays out of trouble most of the time. He is very quiet too. We have only heard him bark a few times. Toby, K.K. and William are quickly becoming great friends. All and all we made a great choice and William will become an excellent pet. We couldn't be happier. 11-15-2007 Jeanne and John, It’s been about a month since we picked William up and we are very happy that he is part of our family now. He’s a real lover. All he really wants to do is be right next to you on the couch or the bed. And he is very persistent about it. Once you let him up, good luck getting him down. He is full of energy, of course, and loves to run on the beach. We take him to a nature preserve where he can run freely and he is truly happy. Toby also likes having him around. Adds some new life to the family. I haven’t seen Toby want to play like this in years. So thanks again and we’ll be in touch. Guy and Conchi |

Good morning Susan! I wanted to let you know (before I post to the whole list) what happened in Cecil County. (Sounds like a western!) The sad news is that we and Cutter did not connect at all—he’s a precious and beautiful guy but he just wasn’t our dog and we weren’t his humans. We were heartbroken and figured we’d be heading home setterless. But then we dove back in, sniffed out all the other setters—and we met the guy who WAS waiting for us. Maybe Cutter was the angel who brought us down to Maryland to meet his kennel brother, I don’t know, but I’ll always be grateful for him. So we came home not with Cutter, but with a 3-4 year old setter boy they were calling Harley in the shelter. He told us his name is actually Bernie, and he is a treasure. He was a super good boy on the 8 hour trip home, and he’s just blossoming every minute he’s in his new home. It’s been a crazy and wonderful adventure. I still wish we’d been the people Cutter is waiting for, and vice versa. They’ll come along. I have a feeling he needs a multi-dog household where he can socialize with a gang of 4-leggers; I can imagine him on a farm, even. I’ll keep him in my prayers and tell his story to my friends, because as you know, you never know! :) You are so right that ESARL is a special shelter. We’re now devoted fans and supporters. Jeanne is awesome, and so are the other folks we met. So—thank you for all your help and advice. Without you we’d never have met Cutter OR Bernie. Even though it didn’t turn out the way we all were hoping, it still turned out so wonderfully. I just wish I could take them all. I’ll post more of the story and some pics on the birdog list soon. Very best and be well Jody Hi Jeanne, John, Jackie, and everyone, We thought you’d like to know that the English setter formerly known as Harley, whose new forever name is Bernie (he likes it!), is doing just wonderfully! He was a total good boy on the 8 hour drive home to Massachusetts from ESARL yesterday, and he is adapting beautifully to his new home—he sleeps through the night, is clearly housebroken, and has a wonderful disposition. He seems to know the command “come back” and responds to hand claps and mouth clicks—we think he have have had some clicker training. Tomorrow we’re meeting with a trainer/behaviorist, and will also be taking him to meet his new vet. One of our friends suggested we learn as much about his history as possible, simply so that we can help him heal from whatever might need healing, and help him be his very best (and he’s already pretty great!). I don’t know if it’s possible, but if you could let us know the name of the shelter in New Jersey (?) he came to you from, and a way to identify him to them, I would contact them directly just to see what I can learn. We feel so lucky to have found Bernie/Harley thanks to ESARL. ESARL/Cecil County SPCA is a truly amazing place; the people who work there are extraordinary, and we’ll always be grateful to you. Best wishes Sanford and Jody |

10-29-2007 It is time to say bye to Zen After 14 years of life he went to the Rainbow Bridge to wait for us and spend time with those who went before him. He was only in our lives at the rescue for around a year, but he touched many lives and never will be forgotten and will always hold a special place in my heart as well as many others that were privileged to know him and be with him. 2-28-2008 Hi, We have Molly (blind in one eye) now Lucey, I believe Daisy was a lovely little orange and white female adopted out about the same time to another family. I did send some pictures a while ago and have included them again now if you'd like to use them in your website. We don't have a digital camera so as we get pictures well send you some. Lucey is just about one of the sweetest dogs we have had, she is very appealing and has us wrapped around her little paws (not so little for her size actually). She has come a long way since we adopted her. Lucey is now 98% house-trained, never has chewed on a thing other then dog toys, she has learned to walk pretty well on a leash and she has the run of the farm which is enclosed in high multiflora rose bush or high tinsel electrified fence. Lucey loves the birds and is happy to chase and watch them all day, when she come in for a rest she falls sound a sleep to recoup her energy. She had gotten along well with all humans and dogs that she has met and pays no attention to our horses. Next to chasing birds she loves laying in her humans laps while having a belly rub or taking a nap. Thanks so much for finding this wonderful dogs a home. Wendy W |

2-29-8 Last summer in the beginning of August 2007, I adopted a yellow lab from your established named "Roxy." She had been found on walking on the side of the road; you had not had her very long when I came in and adopted her. I had just had to put my German Shepherd down 2 weeks previously. Roxy was a small lab, about 62 pounds. I have renamed her "Amber" because of the coloring of her coat. I just wanted you to know what she did yesterday. She lives for playing ball, and yesterday morning we were outside throwing the balls in the back yard. While we were playing (about 7:00 a.m.) I could hear a loud knocking. I thought it was some kind of construction work down the street, but it was unusual for that early in the morning. Amber would catch the ball, but she constantly kept going over to the side of the fence, looking at my neighbor's house. She did this about 4 times before I realized she was focusing on my elderly neighbor's house next door. I went over and I could hear a loud knocking coming from inside the house. Amber took me right to the part of the house where the knocking was coming from. As I got there, I could hear my elderly neighbor yelling from inside the house. I immediately called "911" and the paramedics came immediately. We could hear her inside, and she seemed to be coherent. The rescue teams waited until her son got there, so they wouldn't have to break into her house. Anyway, my neighbor, who is 88 years of age, had gotten up early in the morning and had fallen into her bathtub. Due to her mobility problems, she couldn't get out of the tub, and she had been in the tub for over 2 hours trying to get out. She knew I always went outside and played with Amber before I leave for work. When it started getting light outside, she started knocking on the wall and yelling for help. Amber knew something was wrong or maybe she could hear her yelling. Amber has been good about watching out for my neighbor. I would not have stopped to investigate the noise because I thought it was construction. Had it not been for Amber taking me over to that side of the fence, my neighbor would have laid in the bathtub all day, until her family came late in the afternoon. I was very proud of Amber. Amber has been a pleasure since I adopted her last summer, and she is the "star" of the neighborhood right now. I just thought you might like to know about this story. Adoption stories are not always sad; some are a great success. Audrey G.

3-10-2008 Barbara! I had the great privilege of handing Bradley over to his new mom, Pam, just before 6pm. They should almost be home by now. Pam was just beside herself with excitement and joy at finally meeting Bradley. He did settle down for the drive after checking out a variety of chewing toys (he added the water bowl and a blanket to the list of options, LOL!). Sheila took some pictures of Pam and Bradley in the pouring rain, as well as some of Jayne with Bradley during the hand-off in Worcester. Not sure if she got a pic of Holly and Heidi. I was trying to get Bradley to do a pee and didn't even get a chance to see Holly! Sheila's had some computer issues of late, so may be a bit delayed getting them to all of us, but they'll be coming at some point! It was a very smooth transport, and so nice that the miserable weather didn't cause any delays. Nice meeting everyone! Deirdre:) |

7-18-2008 Hi ! I am writing to give you an update about a dog we adopted from you last year. He is a blue Doberman, and we think he was 2-2 1/2 when we adopted him. We had been looking for a little dog to add to our pack for a few months. We looked at a few shelters as we knew we wanted to adopt. I went to your shelter on a Weds afternoon, and walked up and down the aisles. All the dogs were going crazy and then I walked past the cage of a sad looking Doberman. He was standing, but his head was hung low and he looked at me as if to say "Can you take me home?" He did not bark or approach the front of the cage. Even though I was there to scout for a little dog, I couldn't help but be drawn to this Doberman. So we went into a visitation room and he was prancing around and playing with toys. He was a different dog when he was in that room then he had been a few minutes before in his cage. He was happy. So I filled out all the paper work and the adoption application, then it was time to go. My heart broke to have to leave him there that night. The only thing left was to convince my fiancé that he needed to be part of our "pack".... I went home that night and broke the news to Dave about my new love affair with the blue Dobie. He was hesitant at first and then he said, "Well I did always want a Doberman". An old college room mate had one and Dave had great memories of playing with him. I was relieved and elated! So we got the call from the Shelter that we were approved and we decided that Friday afternoon would be the day. We arrived there very late on Friday as you were about to close. We were heartbroken. We had come with everything prepared. A new collar, a new leash, treats, and a "doggie seatbelt". I think you saw the look on our faces and brought us inside to take the dog. We went to his cage and he started to jump up and down and his little nubby tail was wagging as hard as it could. He sat still while we put the collar and seatbelt on him. He jumped in our jeep and off we were. On the way home he rested his head on Dave's shoulder....the rest is history. We named him "Blue" (ok so we aren't very creative!) And we love him to death. He watches TV with us, makes sure we know when someone is at the door and sleeps with us at night. He has fit in perfectly with our other dogs, and is part of the "pack". We adopted a 6 month old puppy a few weeks ago and he plays with her ever so gently. We cannot express how grateful we are to you for bringing this sweet boy into our lives. We can't imagine life without him. His nubby tail still wags every time we come home and he is a "couch cuddler". Blue goes to Doggie Daycare twice a week and they love him there too. He can run and jump and play with all of his daycare buddies. Blue is just a great dog.....what else can we say?? You are a wonderful organization and we are so grateful for the wonderful care you gave Blue until we found him. THANK YOU!!!! Thank you so much!! Dave & Andy |

Hey guys- Just wanted to update you on Dylan, who I adopted in September of 2006. He's still doing great. I graduated from vet school, and the two of us have moved to Canada. Fortunately, Dylan adores the snow, because we see lots of it. He gets to come to work with me, and go out on horse calls (he loves the car). I am amazed at how well he adjusted to the move, and change in climate. He loves going to our cottage and taking a swim. He also loves to romp in the snow, but hates the snow booties I bought for him. He has also developed into quite the ham. He knows just how to make me laugh - - and loves to do it. He is mostly impeccably behaved, although he's more of a ladies man, and sometimes barks at men. He also has a bit of a stubborn streak, but that too makes me laugh. No matter how hard I try to train him to sleep on a blanket on the bed and the sofa saver on the couch, he always sleeps next to or under them, in a very purposeful way. He's even great with my 1 1/2 year old niece, who, when asked what kind of dog she wants, says "Dyl, I want doggie like Dyl, so nice, he gives kisses." Who wouldn't want a speckled fellow in their life? He's good natured, LOVING, and generally fabulous. Please find the attached photos of Dylan. There is one of him under the covers, one of him romping with some friends, one of him barking at a singing Christmas dog, and one of him wearing his reindeer hat (not his favorite, but he's amicable enough to allow a few photos to be snapped before shaking it off). When I think of the things I am thankful for in this New Year, I definitely think of Dylan. He is a wonderful companion and best friend, and I am VERY grateful that you gave me the opportunity to adopt him. He is very loved. Thanks again, Hope all's well in Cecil County, Diana |

Hi everyone! I'm so sorry it took us awhile to send new pictures. Life has been very busy and now with 2 new girls we are busier than ever! Susan had requested an update last time I called, so here it is: The girls are doing so so well. We love them so much and they have made our family feel joy every time we look at their beautiful faces :) Their personalities have really come out and they are so funny and so different from one another. We call Prudence our little sweetie. She loves to be held and cuddled and she sleeps curled next to my side almost every night. She has learned her sit command recently (it took a LOT of patience!!) and she is so proud. She follows me all over the house, even if I leave the room for a second! She is always the one to initiate play time with her sister by biting her on the neck and yelping. She loves her toys and running in the park. She is the lady! On the flip side we call Pheobe " our little goofball" She's a comedian! Funny and happy all the time, wags her tail constantly and suffers from " extreme greeting disorder", lol. If we even leave the house for 5 minutes, she greets us and jumps around like we've been missing for hours. Prudence usually hides from her tearing about the house. She's been a little tougher to train but is learning well. We consider her house training and not chewing on the furnishings huge accomplishments for her. We almost have the sit command down, but she's learned "come". She loves to cuddle also, and has no problem making herself comfy on the bed. She steals her sister's chew toys everytime, even though she has her own. Prudence comes to me as if to say, "Mommy, she did it again" and I go and take it back and give it to Prudence. This goes on and on! Even though they act like competive siblings, they cuddle together and clean each other and play all the time. I know we did the right thing by taking both of them. We have a lot of dogs in the neighborhood and they have also made great strides in their socialization. They now sniff and greet other dogs at the park and on their walks. They even spent a weekend with my Dad's new rescue when we visited him in CT. One of the pictures I'm sending you is Phoebe with my Dad's dog, he had a major crush on her. Their Nana has made them many beautiful sweaters for the winter, she custom designed a pattern just for them. They have even been in a gallery show, a friend painted their portrait!! (attached) We are so happy we have found these beautiful souls and have them in our family. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! Please let the former owner know that he did the right thing and they are so happy. I'm sure it was very hard for him to let go. Also, if other members of the litter or household have been adopted into the Philadelphia area and want our info, we would be happy to get together. I know there are privacy issues but we are open to it if other adoptive families are also. I would love to know how they are doing as I could have loved all of them! I hope you enjoy the pictures and I'll try to keep you updated. Best wishes, Lauren, Jim and Isabella |

Hi, Jeanne. Happy New Year!!! Just wanted to give you an update on Wagner. He has really settled in nicely. He follows the older ones around all the time and has learned all their good habits. He is so darn affectionate...I could hug and kiss him all day long and he'd be content. He is our little clown....he teases the others and then runs under the dining room table so they can't get him. And he loves toys, especially balls and stuffies. Oh, I love this little guy!!!! One of the best gifts I ever got. He and Nickleby are fast friends because they are the closest in age, but Nigel is very protective of him and Nell treats him like he's her baby. It's weird but he takes to men right away and is wary of women. He absolutely loves my son but when my daughter-in-law is here, he goes under the table. And she's a sweetie...she absolutely loves him and fusses over him all the time. I guess it will take time. He cleaned up on Christmas....got tons of toys from family and friends. He doesn't know what to play with first, but his favorite toy is a Cuz ball. Although my friend, Carol, made him a coat, he still won't allow me to put it on him...and the others love their coats. I guess I'll have to work more on that with little treats. I've attached new pics of him. Thanks, again, for giving me this precious treasure!!! Sincerely, Trish Scanzello |

Hi CCSPCA, Cobalt is doing great. We're amazed by several things. First is that he's housebroken. THANK YOU! Second is that he's a really great dog and it's baffling that he was with you for so long. He's really playful and especially loves his bones. He gets along with his brother and loves running in the yard. He grunts and snorts like a pig which is hysterical. The vet says his helath is excellent. He loved the snow. I've attached a picture where he briefly rested from running in it. Also a photo of him with my niece. He's great with kids. Thanks again. We love him. Bonnie and Tom |

HI Everyone: We adopted Curly March 2005, when he was a year and 10 months old. Changed our whole life. Now he is 5 1/2. He is the best dog that ever existed anywhere. Everyone who sees him asks about him, he has such presence. Smart and sweet, well mannered. We hike several miles through Amish farmland about 5-6 days a week. He is learning agility. He loves his life and us. He helps us remember how to live in the moment and be happy. He thinks he is a person. Always happy. Carries his teddy bears everywhere. Goes with us everywhere. Thanks. Chris, Brooke and Curly |

Hi CCSPCA, We thought you might get a kick out of the photo of Cobalt watching TV. He cries if he sees a cat on the screen. In the second picture, he's resting with his brother after the trainer had been to visit. He now takes treats gently (most of the time) instead of snapping our hands off. He's getting better on the leash and is having fun chasing birds and rabbits. He's a great guy. Bonnie and Tom |

Good Morning, I just wanted to tell you that we absolutely love Minny! She is settling in nicely, and appears to be quite comfortable and at home given that she was sleeping on the antique sofa in my mother's living room yesterday. Her coat is looking better already, and she had a bath Saturday evening. She did not appear to mind it. I made her a blanket and gave it to her for Easter yesterday. She seemed to really like curling up in it. She is enjoying daily trips to the park, and is leaving for her beach houses today for a few days. We will be in touch with pictures of Minny in her new homes. We thank you so much for our little bundle of joy. She is a delight! Melanie Alice George |

Dear Susan, I sent an email previously but I had the wrong email address. Your kennel was spotless and all the animals looked so healthy and well groomed. I have never seen a rescue like it. What a staff you have! They answered all my questions and walked me through my adoption as if Czar was a person. I thank you for his medication. It was so generous. I will and have referred people to your website and your SPCA. It's so nice to see people who are doing their jobs and not acting as if it is a job. They truly love animals and my friends and I felt that all the way home. It was such a pleasure not only for me but my friend and her children. We talked about the experience all the way back to Dover. Thank you and your wonderful crew. It was such a memorable time for us all . Sincerely, Kimberly Lewis |

Hi Cecil County SPCA, I wanted to give you an update on a dog I adopted in June her name at the spca was Amanda and she is a chinese shar-pei mix. We have renamed her magnolia and I couldn't imagine my home without her. She has been such a great and loyal friend and has given me so much appreciation for animals and how important it is to rescue a dog rather then purchase a puppy. Magnolia certainly deserved a forever home and a second chance with a family. When we adopted her she had issues being aggresive with other dogs, and I am happy to report that she now goes to training classes and to the dog park a few times a week and absoloutly loves playing with other dogs! She is a little spoiled though and gets plenty of new toys and treats and I can't resist letting her cuddle up in bed with me at night. I'd like to thank the Cecil County SPCA for giving us the opportunity to take Magnolia home and for all the joy we have gotten so far from having her as an addition to our family. Sincerly, Tiffany Minicozzi and Nick Tomeo |

Hi All ~ Just wanted to send you a few new pictures of Sam. He's been with us for three weeks now and is doing very well. He fits into our family perfectly. Sam's days are filled with walks, playing with toys, doggie snacks, kisses, and swimming in the pool. With him in his pictures are Brody (St. Bernard), Annabelle (German Shepherd), and our 8 year old daughter, Emma. We cannot thank you enough for keeping him healthy and safe until he arrived with us. Keeping all of you in our thoughts. Warmly, Candice and JP Lank Bear, Delaware |

Hi, We wanted to give you all an update on Lucey (who was Molly) that we adopted in July 07. She was the little setter blind in one eye...to this day that never bothers her. She is doing wonderfully and is the apple of our eye, probably too much so. Lucey thinks life is just a wonderful thing, it's a pleasure to see, she runs, she plays, she climbs in any lap that happens to not have a dog in it, she lays in her pool, she sleeps, she loves to go for car rides, what a life!. She is quite spoiled....we can't help it, she finds the most wonderful place to be if not out running hunting birds or anything else that flies is in our lap or bed having a good snuggle. We have had her 2 years now, she still wants and needs to run a lot but we see her spending more quiet down time now then she did when we first got her, this is good! She has 2 brothers and 1 sister she lives with, they all get along very well.....one is a little pointer female Cherry (now Cherie) adopted by a friend from your facility in 08 and now with us, more info and pics to come on her later. Someday we hope to have another rescue setter but right now the dog beds are full. Thanks for saving Lucey from who knows what. Sincerely Wendy and Steve Williams |

Hi, Xmas 2009...Robbie the Aussie (adopted from his breeder, he would not herd), Lucey (was Molly) the Eng setter and Cherie (was Cherry) the pointer. Lucey we adopted from you July 2007 and Cherie March 2008. This was the family visit to Santa they had a great time visiting and seeing all the other animals.......the difficulty is getting a setter to set when you need them too. Lucey and Cherie are best of friends, they run, sleep and eat together, you should make a package deal- with every setter you get a pointer :>) We couldn't be luckier in the two dogs we adopted from the Cecil Cty SPCA, if we had more room we'd be back adopting again but 4 is our limit right now....Jimmy the German Shorthair is missing from the picture. Keep up your good work with the animals and may they all find homes! |

HAPPY HOLIDAY FROM LUCEY AND CHERIE Hello Everyone, Lucey (was Molly) and Cherie (was Cherry) send their holiday greetings. Here seen in their new bed. They both are lovely dogs and we'd recommend anyone pick and setter and a pointer to go together from your SPCA. We still so want to adopt another but we have 4 dogs, all the dog beds are full. When we ever can again we will be knocking on your door. Sincerely, Wendy and Steve Williams |

Hello, I'm writing just to give you an update on a dog that we adopted from your shelter this past April. She is a two year old English Setter named Amber Angel. She has been doing wonderfully. She is our daughter's best friend and a wonderfully gentle dog. She has lots of energy running around the back yard chasing squirrels and birds, and is a very well mannered indoor dog. She still has some anxiety issues with being left alone, but was easily crate trained and sleeps peacefully in her crate when we're out. We are still helping her get used to going on car rides, but she's getting better every day. All in all, we are so happy that we found her at your shelter. I've attached a photo from this Fall. Anyhow, thank you so much for helping us find such a wonderful family member! Sincerely, Sue Stark |

I know it has been a while since we last spoke. My family and I moved to Williamsburg, VA about 3 years ago and I haven't been able to get back in to see you since then. Noodle, the wonder Springer is still with us - 11years old now, or there abouts. He had been retired from the obedience ring for about 3 years now, but this past Fall his obedience journey took a new twist. After earning a myriad of obedience titles from the American Kennel Club, we found the United Kennel Club. This past November, Noodle entered the obedience ring again and competed with the same excitement and precision as he had previously. We competed in PA at TNT Dog Training Club, and Noodle won his first UKC Novice class with a score of 199 out of 200. He earned High Score In Trial (HIT) honors as well, even besting his younger kennel-mate, Nipper, the adopted Dalmatian. Noodle earned another 199 in the second trial that day, but was edged out by Nipper in a run-off for HIT honors. We finished Noodle's United Kennel Club Companion Dog title (UCD) this past weekend at the K9 Connection trials in Beltsville, MD. Noodle again took first place in both of his Novice classes, this time with scores of 198.5 and 199.5, and won HIT honors in both trials. On to the Open Class! Noodle is pictured in the attached with his two other competitive kennel-mates, both of whom have also earned Obedience Trial Champion titles in the AKC. I can only thank-you again and again for keeping him until I could find him those 9 years ago...a contribution gift is on its way... Diane Sparks UCD OTCh Sparky's Noodle UDX2 |

Hi Susan and everyone at the shelter! It's been a while but I wanted to send you a few pictures of the girls, Phoebe and Prudence. They are fantastic and completely spoiled :) Phoebe loves to sit on top of her sister, it is so funny. They just finished an agility course and did very well. Prudence is actually a great athlete, especially when motivated by food. She did amazing and I will continue with her. Phoebe was a bit lazy in class which was not what I expected. At home she can leap 5 feet into the air and do a triple spin off the bed! In class, she would barely lift a paw over a 3 inch hurdle. It was really funny. I think the atmosphere of the training facility really scared her. She is very happy and secure at home with us but still fearful in new places. Since she is the more gregarious sister it really surprised me. A little more exposure and TLC will get her there. They haven't like the snow very much but are very content to tear around indoors and cuddle a lot. They are in great health and have been much more social with new people. All in all, things are perfect and we love them so much! We hope you are all doing well! Lauren, Jim and Isabella Orr |

Hello to all my Friends at the Cecil County SPCA shelter. My new name is Maverick and my owners, Frank and Beverly Eurice, have really made me work real hard. If it's not retreiving tennis balls out of the Gunpowder River, then its overseeing the property where I live. It's a whole acre, fenced in and trespassed by many squirrels and rabbits. The squirrels are the hardest to cover as they live in the trees. I am enclosing a few photo's of my river and me for your scrapbook. Thank you for saving me for my two new owners. Maverick
